April favorites

Spring sports started up and in April the Midland Daily News printed a portrait series myself, Erin and Nick worked on. There were also fun events to cover like the weight lifting day at Bullock Creek High School and Arbor Day at the elementary schools. Thanks for looking.

March favorites

I got to meet Rosa Miller a few days before she turned 100, followed a few local basketball teams on their way to the state tournament and saw some people enjoy the butterflies at Dow Gardens. Thanks for looking.

February favorites

In February the press at the Midland Daily News was shut down and printing operations moved to
Big Rapids. The annual Dow Tennis Classic brought professional athletes to the area and of course high school sports and Valentine's Day festivities. Thanks for looking.

January Favorites

The start of a new year didn't change much in terms of the types of assignments I shot for the paper. I still covered winter high school sports and the occasional weather features when we actually got snow.  I think it's the cyclically pattern of community newspaper work that can wear a photographer down. So I did try to switch up how I was shooting. I brought along the 400mm lens to shoot wrestling and basketball, sports which I normally reserve the 70-200 and 50 for. It was awkward and still is but I think it's helping and hopefully I'll get better at keeping my frames cleans and not awkward cropping body parts out. Thanks for looking.

December favorites

I'm slightly behind, but will be getting to may favorite pics for 2016 soonish. Here are my favorites from December. Shopping with heroes, basketball, holiday lights, following a Mexican immigrant working to apply to get citizenship and ringing in the new year. Thanks for looking

November Favorites

November was filled with election related assignments, watching the Midland High girls volleyball team win their first regional title since 1996, Dow High lose to Fenton ending their chances to enter the state tournament, seeing a Super Moon and meeting a women fostering a lot of cats. Thanks for looking.

October favorites

October has basically been a Midland High School kind of month. I photographed a lot of this school's sports and extracurricular activities along with finishing up two of my stories to be ready for print. I'll post my stories and layouts later. Thanks for looking.
