Flash

I had to photograph Relay for Life today and I looked for something for the newspaper but also decide to play around with flash. I haven't used flash in quite some time and I enjoy using it when I can do it just right. I like the photo with the girl, umbrella, and balloon for some reason. It's quirky.

I also got to talk with a cancer survivor who plays paintball and I might get to go paintballing with him and some of his friends, I hope I don't shot my eye off.

swim meet

I'm trying to accomplish two things during my time in Midland, clean backgrounds and organized chaos. I love photographs that have everything in just the right spot. I'm not there yet but crowded events like swim meets are prefect places to practice.

Backyard Swimming

I met up with Michael and his family this evening and really wished I could've jumped into the pool too. I'm trying to show more of what Michael is feeling. I'm trying to put myself in his shoes to give each photo the sensation of what it's like to be him, to enjoy certain things more than others, and to have difficulties communicating because Michael still has spoken a single word.

I couldn't decide which photo I liked best.

Junior League Championship Game

Looking for details

Sometimes I can't decide if I like an image or not, especially when I try shooting differently than I'm used to. I've been in Midland for about a month and I notice that I'm trying to not only shooting differently but think differently. I never use to look for details or shoot without having a face or head. I don't think I've shot either of those situations very well but I'm going to continue looking and hopefully leave Midland with a nice detail or two.

One year later

This day a year ago I covered Aaron Ullom's funeral and today is the anniversary of his death. Friends and family gathered at his grave to release balloons and to talk about Aaron. His brother said, "He was a dork. He was a great man. And he is my hero."

Little League begins

I was working towards trying to find some interesting features during this little league game, but didn't have much luck. Hopefully next time all of the elements will come together better.
