Since Thanksgiving the newsroom has been somewhat quiet and I've found myself feature hunting at least once a day. Being fairly new to the area it feels daunting and exciting at the same. Yesterday while dropping off a book I saw this guy asleep outside. Sometimes finding a feature just means having your camera on you at all times or times it means searching the area and going out and talking with people.
I think when I get busy working to complete all my daily assignments and trying to chip away at the special edition the newsroom is publishing in less than a month I forget how nice a simple feature is. It's real a palette cleanser and gives you the freedom to shoot where ever you desire because the photo is simple there to stand by itself. For anyone that does struggle with feature hunting I recommend The Great Picture Hunt 2 by Dave LaBelle.
