It's been 5 days since I posted so I guess I'm trying to make up for lost time. Here's a girls volleyball game that I shot. I wish the focus was a little better.

Volleyball

I got to shoot volleyball tonight after all of my shoots got cancelled today. I wish all high school gyms had sunlight balanced lightblubs and lots of them.

Day on a boat

Today was the first time I went on the Saginaw Bay. I was out there with employees of the DNR, that's Department of Natural Resources not Do Not Resuscitate. They do an annual check of the fish population there and I give them credit, writing while on a boat. I was fine until I put my head down to write something. Then I felt sick. Luckily this was at the end of the trip.

The Snyder Crop

William Snyder taught me many things while I was in school. One of the most memorable lessons he gave was about where the picture was. A girl in my glass took a photo of a kid petting a llama, or alpaca I can't really remember. Anyway he went up to the photo took both his hands and shrunk the 8x10 photograph into a 4x5 rectangle around the hand amongst the wool. He said this is where the picture is. This taught me a few things. 1.) Remember to look for details in everything 2.) They a photograph is cropped can change they way it's viewed.

In the spirit of 2 I took one of my photographs and cropped two different ways. Can't decide which I like best, the original, version A, or version B. What do you think?

My first college football game

RIT didn't have football. We only had one D1 team and it was hockey and for various reasons I never shot hockey (gross lighting, trying to shoot through the scuffed glass, I usually spent my free time working on shooting my personal projects) so this was my first college football game. I only got to shoot the first 10 minutes of the game because I needed to get photos in for deadline. This basically meant no funny business. I'm pretty proud of what I came away with for only having a little bit of time to shoot.

Basset Hounds sink

Did you know that Basset Hounds bones are so dense that they sink? I didn't either til I met a Basset Hound named George who was wearing a life vest at a lake.
